Avoidant personality disorder (AvPD) is a mental health condition characterized by a persistent pattern of feelings of inadequacy, extreme shyness, and sensitivity to rejection, which leads to avoiding social interactions. AvPD therapy is a form of treatment that is specifically designed to help individuals with AvPD to overcome their fear of rejection and criticism, and to develop the social skills needed to interact with others.
The goal of AvPD therapy is to help individuals understand and cope with their difficulty in social interactions, and to develop the skills and strategies needed to form healthy and secure relationships with others. This can include addressing underlying issues that may have contributed to the AvPD, such as emotional or psychological problems, and developing healthy coping mechanisms to deal with stress and other triggers.
